Vision and Values

Our Christian Vision

At Draycott and Rodney Stoke Church of England First School, our vision is:

Together, We Flourish and Grow.”

This vision is rooted in the Christian belief that God created each person in His image (Genesis 1:27) and desires fullness of life for all (John 10:10).  However, in particular:

  1. We believe we are called to live and learn together as a community. In the Bible, we are reminded that we are one body, where each person is valued and needed (1 Corinthians 12:12), and that we are strongest when we support and care for one another in love.
  2. We believe that all people are created to flourish. Like a tree planted by streams of water (Psalm 1:3), each child is nurtured and sustained so they can thrive and bear fruit in their lives. This flourishing is both personal and shared, as we seek the good of others as well as ourselves.

  3. We also believe that we are called to grow. Through God’s love and guidance, we develop in wisdomcharacter, and understanding, just as Jesus “grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52). Growth includes learning from mistakes, showing resilience, and becoming the people God created us to be.

Our Christian Values

From this vision flow our Christian values, which underpin everything we do.  These values guide the way we live and learn together, shaping our relationships and our understanding of the world. All of our Christian values are rooted in the Bible, but we believe they are values that can be embraced by all in our community.

  • Respect
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Matthew 7:12)
  • Trust
“My God is my strength in whom I trust.” (Psalm 18:2)
  • Courage
“Be strong and courageous.” (Joshua 1:9)
  • Thankfulness
“Always be thankful.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16)
  • Kindness
“Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” (Colossians 3:12)
  • Community
“Serve one another in love.” (Galatians 5:13)

These values are embedded throughout school life and are reflected in how we learn, play, worship and grow together.

Promoting British Values

We actively promote the fundamental British Values of:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs

These are explored through our broad and balanced curriculum—particularly in Religious Education and PSHE—as well as through collective worship, school leadership opportunities such as House Captains, and our Behaviour for Learning policy.
